Beatrice Beecham: Adventure has a new ingredient!

Beatrice Beecham Joins Ghostwriter Publications

It’s been a while in coming folks but I have some news of the future of the Beatrice Beecham series. Since we last met I have parted company with my publisher and have found Beatrice a new home; a publisher that perhaps understands her a little better and is prepared to make sure that she grows both on and off the page. Once you read the plans below I think you will see what I mean and I hope that you are ready to come along for the ride.

First of all on August 1st 2009 my publisher will launch www.beatricebeecham.com, a truly interactive website that will allow fans - and those who are seeking a new source of adventure - to follow news, chat with others, write fan fiction as well as...win the opportunity to be a character in the  forthcoming short story book.

Later this year Ghostwriter Publications will release a brand new, signed, limited edition, original Beatrice Beecham story as an Audio book and Chapbook that will also feature a key ring...at only £7.00 (+ £1 p/p).

This publication will be limited to 250 copies and will be sold via the Ghostwriter Publications website on a first come first served basis...and these limited packages can be pre-ordered from July 1st at www.ghostwriterpublications.com....and will give the buyers the chance to take advantage of a special price for the forth BB novel.

If you can't wait...send an email to neilmjackson@ghostwriterpublications.com.

Spring 2010 will see the launch of Beatrice Beecham’s Fearsome Feast and Beatrice Beecham’s Fete of Fate; under the pen name DB Jeffery. Fete of Fate will be published as it was meant to be: as a single volume. None of this convoluted: “Parts one and two” nonsense...as well as audio books of both books.

This is a precursor to news that I’m sure you have been waiting for: namely the release of the Beatrice Beecham novel Cryptic Crypt. This title is slated for summer 2010.

I hope that the wait for news has been worth it and you can rest assured that Beatrice and her loyal fans are never far from my mind. With GWP on board there will be ongoing developments in the world of Beatrice and I will keep you all informed as they are confirmed. If things go as we all hope, the best is yet to come.

Very best

Dave

April News

It’s been a roller coaster ride so far this month. 10 days in has seen several highs and lows in my life as a writer. As we so often have to in this world of flux, we have to roll with the punches, we have to stay on our feet and wait for respite. It will come, even though those blows come thick and fast, there is always the finality of the bell; just so long as we can just hold on to that chance that we will eventually make it.

So what’s been happening over the past few weeks? Well, at the end of May, I had a book signing at a very high profile bookstore. It was well advertised and all appeared to be well. Then the clouds rolled in and it began to rain – heavily. And this sudden squall washed away any foundations that I held true for a while.

Ten very supportive individuals came to say hi, and offer moral support. One lady asked me if I could tell her if the department stocked Topsy and Tim books; and a toddler yelled and screamed for the five minutes allocated for the reading. I couldn’t blame the toddler, I was signing a book for young adults in the early readers section of the store!

Now I can laugh about this!

I used some time to consider options, to identify a way forward through a patch of doubt. Needless to say I met frustration with a creative blitz and have now made several decisions. First of all, Beatrice Beecham’s Cryptic Crypt will be delayed for a significant period. This is while I seek an alternative publisher for the series. I have spoken to many fans; and they have been more than supportive of this notion. To those loyal supporters I remain continuously in your debt; and thank you deeply.

I have now signed with Ghostwriter Publications (GWP), a genre based company here in the UK, who will release my collection of ghost stories, The Screaming Scout and Other Campfire Chillers later this year. I have also agreed to write a zombie novel for GWP titled The Risen and this will be published in November 2009. And negotiations for a four book series titled Gargoyle are currently under way with GWP’s CEO Neil Jackson. The series aims to be a modern adult tale akin to Beauty and the Beast spanning five centuries. Once details are agreed, the books are slated for release in 2010-2011.  Below are two cover concepts to whet your appetite prior to the release of these titles. NB: The Rising has now been changed to The Risen.

Covers for my books with GWP are being designed and illustrated by Steve Crisp who has produced covers for Stephen King, Richard Layman, Clive Cussler, and Guy N Smith, amongst many others. I’m pretty excited about it all, as you can probably imagine.

While I wait for these works to go through the publishing process, readers may be interested to know that GWP are publishing the anthology Creature Feature which features my short story Shadow of the Gargoyle. This book will be out on June 1st 2009.  Guy N Smith fans will be pleased to know that the eminent horror writer has a new short story in this volume too.

Adults, please feel free to check out the Ghostwriter Publishing website. Parental guidance is required for children under 12.

Best Wishes

Dave
